(Alliance News) : On Tuesday, major European indices are expected to open mixed as reports emerge that vessels are once again transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The oil route is set to be "fully open" by Friday, following an announcement from Washington and Tehran regarding an agreement to end the conflict in the Middle East.
According to futures, the FTSE MIB is expected to open in the green, up 0.7% or 333.0 points, after closing Monday up 0.7% at 51,835.95.
The CAC 40 in Paris is forecast for fractional gains of 1.8 points, the DAX 40 in Frankfurt is expected to slip 0.1% or 23.5 points, while London's FTSE 100 is projected to open down 0.1% or 11.2 points.
Among Milan's secondary indices on Monday evening, the Mid-Cap rose 2.0% to 64,949.67, the Small-Cap closed up 1.5% at 36,743.16, and Italy Growth posted a gain of 0.3% to 9,137.74.
In international economic news, the Bank of Japan raised interest rates by a quarter of a percentage point, as anticipated.
Following its monetary policy meeting, the central bank announced that interest rates were increased to 1.0% from the previous 0.75%, marking the highest level since 1995, in line with forecasts reported by FXStreet. The BoJ voted seven to one in favor, with Toichiro Asada as the sole dissenter.
In China, retail sales fell 0.6% year on year in May, coming in below the 0.2% increase seen the previous month and missing the stable growth forecast cited by FXStreet.
Back in Milan, among the blue chips on Piazza Affari, Ferrari led the pack on Monday evening, closing up 4.1% at 319.35 per share, rebounding from a 1.1% bearish candle on Friday. Notably, Morgan Stanley upgraded the stock to "overweight" with a price target of $438.00.
Prysmian gained 1.2% to 145.55 per share. Berenberg maintained its "hold" recommendation on Prysmian but raised its price target to 130 from 92, suggesting that the stock's strong appreciation already reflects much of the upside related to electrification, AI, and potential fiber optic deals with major data center operators.
In a report by Scott Humphreys, the bank argues that the risk-reward profile is now substantially balanced.
UniCredit, up 1.7%, announced Monday that the acceptance level for its voluntary exchange offer for Commerzbank reached 134.3m shares as of 1400 CEST on June 15. This represents 11.9% of the German bank's share capital and voting rights, and 12.4% of voting rights excluding treasury shares.
The offer, announced on May 5, provides 0.485 new UniCredit shares for every Commerzbank share tendered and is set to expire at 2400 CEST on June 16, barring any extensions under German law.
Leonardo, among the few decliners with a 2.8% loss, announced a new order on Monday from Avincis, a leading emergency air services operator, for 15 helicopters destined for rescue and offshore transport missions in Europe. The order includes 10 AW169 units and 5 AW139 units, with deliveries scheduled between 2028 and 2031 as part of the group's fleet modernization plan.
On the mid-cap segment, Safilo pushed higher with a 6.9% gain, marking its third consecutive positive session to close at 1.88.
Technoprobe surged 7.3%, taking the top spot in the segment: the stock has risen by over 175% in 2026.
NewPrinces edged up 0.3%, securing its fourth straight positive close. Of note, Voleon Capital Management trimmed its short position on the stock to 0.59% from 0.61%.
Among the minority of decliners, Zignago Vetro fell 4.7% after three consecutive bullish sessions.
On the Small-Cap index, Seco advanced 9.1%, finishing in positive territory for the third straight day.
Piquadro, up 0.8%, announced Monday that its board of directors approved the consolidated financial statements for the year ending March 31, reporting a profit of 12.9m, an increase of over 11% compared to 11.6m the previous year. The board will propose a total dividend distribution of 7.0m.
Landi Renzo, up 0.3%, announced it has signed an amendment to the agreement for its Indian joint venture, Krishna Landi Renzo India Private Limited, selling a 16% stake to local partner Shloka Auto Trimes and reducing its own holding to 35%. The transaction involves no direct consideration but transfers full responsibility for potential liabilities related to ongoing customs litigation to Shloka, while freeing Landi Renzo from funding and guarantee obligations toward the JV.
Banca Sistema, down 1.2%, regarding the mandatory total public tender and exchange offer promoted by Banca CF+, announced Friday evening that the acceptance period has concluded, reaching 85.67% of the share capital. To date, over 3.9m shares of Banca Sistema have been tendered, representing approximately 26% of the shares targeted by the offer and about 4.9% of the bank's share capital.
BasicNet, down 0.5%, disclosed Monday that it purchased 62,500 treasury shares between June 8 and June 12 at an average price of 7.205 each, for a total value of approximately 450,000.
Among SMEs, Destination Italia finished up 7.7% at 0.28 per share, marking its fifth consecutive bullish session.
Next Geosolutions Europe gained 1.9% to 16.00 per share. Intesa Sanpaolo confirmed its "buy" recommendation and price target of 16.6, viewing the completion of post-lay trenching activities for the Bouri Gas Utilisation Project as strategically positive.
In a note by Giada Cabrino, the bank noted that the initiative represents a further step in the group's development and the expansion of its service range through the integration of trenching activities, in line with the growth strategy outlined in recent months.
AATech, which did not trade today and last priced at 0.94, announced Monday that its affiliate Renable Group Srl, a firm specializing in complex turnaround and industrial enhancement operations, has acquired 95.58% of Ineo Srl, a specialist in anti-fraud services, digital identification, and KYC/AML compliance.
Mare Engineering, up 0.8%, continues its buyback program. On Monday, it announced the purchase of 11,400 treasury shares at an average price of 3.97479 each, for a total consideration of 45,312.61.
In New York on Friday, the Dow closed up 0.9% at 51,671.03, while the Nasdaq surged 3.1% to 26,683.94 and the S&P 500 rose 1.7% to 7,554.29.
In Asian markets, the Hang Seng is currently down 1.6%, the Shanghai Composite is flat, while the Nikkei is seeing fractional gains.
On the currency front, the euro is trading at $1.1577 from $1.1602 on Monday evening, while the pound is at $1.3394 from $1.3437.
In commodities, Brent crude is trading at $82.70 per barrel from $83.11 on Monday evening, while gold is priced at $4,336.84 per ounce from $4,352.90 at Monday's close.
Tuesday's macroeconomic calendar includes the release of Italian inflation data at 1000 CEST, followed by the German ZEW economic sentiment index at 1100 CEST.
In the US, a 20-year bond auction is scheduled for 1900 CEST, with the oil inventory report following at 2230 CEST.
On the Piazza Affari corporate calendar, no major events are scheduled for today.
