Leonardo aims for Bromo space project approval by 2027

(Alliance News) - Leonardo aims to secure the necessary authorizations for Project Bromo, its space joint venture with Airbus and Thales, by the second half of 2027. This was stated by Co-General Manager Lorenzo Mariani in an interview with Bloomberg, as reported by Il Sole 24 Ore on Thursday.

Mariani described Bromo as 'the future of space in Europe in business terms'. According to the newspaper, Leonardo is expected to contribute its space assets to the joint venture in exchange for a 32.5% stake.

The group's Space division currently generates approximately EUR1 billion in revenue and is valued at between EUR2 billion and EUR2.5 billion.

The project represents one of the pillars of Leonardo's 2030 industrial plan, which forecasts growth in orders, revenue, and Ebita for the Space division of 20.7%, 20.2%, and 26.4% respectively.

The executive also stated that he would welcome Germany's potential entry into the GCAP program, while warning that the arrival of new partners could slow down the project's timeline.
