Indian Oil Corporation Limited informed that in terms of MOP&NG?s letter ref. no. CA-31022/1/2021-CA-PNG (37493) dated 4 June 2026, Shri A. Amarnath (DIN-11690405) has been appointed as Government Nominee Director on the Board of Indian Oil with effect from 5 June 2026.
Shri. A. Amarnath (DIN 11690405) is an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) Officer with extensive experience in diplomacy and international cooperation. He currently serves as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the Joint Secretary level in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG), where he oversees international cooperation and energy diplomacy initiatives.
His responsibilities include coordinating between MoP&NG, the Ministry of External Affairs, Foreign Governments, diplomatic missions and energy companies on issues relating India?s energy security and strategic partnerships. Shri. A. Amarnath joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2006.
As part of his assignments, he has served in Indian Diplomatic Missions in the United Arab Emirates, Israel and Maldives. He has also served in the Indian Delegation to the United Nations in New York and was part of India?s Security Council Team during its membership in the body in 2021-2022. He handled issues related to Disarmament, International Security, West Asia and Gulf affairs.
In the Ministry of External Affairs, he has served in the Northern Division as Director and also as Chief of Staff of the Minister of State of External Affairs from 2016-2018. He is also a Government Nominee Director on the Board of Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserve Ltd.
