The government unveiled a 500 million kronor support package for domestic aviation this morning.

The move comes in response to surging fuel prices following the conflict in the Middle East and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

The bulk of the aid, totaling 400 million kronor, will see the state cover the costs of passenger and baggage security screenings during the second half of the year. This measure is expected to reduce airline costs by 46 kronor per passenger, according to SvD.

An additional 100 million kronor has been allocated to procure flight services if necessary, ensuring nationwide accessibility.

The support package is part of a 17 billion kronor supplementary budget previously presented, reports Aftonbladet.
