FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) - The recovery that began on Friday propelled the DAX back above the 25,000-point mark. A strong surge on Japan's stock market and a record high on Wall Street also fueled confidence across European equity markets.
Germany's leading index closed the day up 1.19 percent at 25,014.87 points. The MDAX of mid-cap stocks gained 0.96 percent to reach 31,965.87 points, while the eurozone's blue-chip EuroStoxx 50 advanced 1.01 percent to 6,059.01 points. In Switzerland and the United Kingdom, the main indices posted only slight gains. In the United States, the Dow Jones Industrial continued its record rally above 50,000 points, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq indices also moved higher by the close of European trading./ck/he
