FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) - The German stock market edged lower on Thursday. Renewed geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, scrutiny over high AI valuations, and the prospect of rising interest rates are keeping investors on the sidelines. Market analyst Jochen Stanzl of Consorsbank described the current environment as a volatile 'seesaw market' that could persist for several weeks, partly due to seasonal trends.

The Dax remained virtually unchanged in the opening minutes of trading, hovering around 24,190 points. The MDax also held steady at 31,297 points. Meanwhile, the Eurozone's blue-chip index, the EuroStoxx 50, rose by 0.2 percent./edh/stk
