FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) - Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund will kick off the 2026 calendar year in the Bundesliga this Friday. Both teams are vying for crucial points in the race for European qualification. After 15 matchdays, Eintracht sit seventh with 25 points, while BVB are second with 32 points.
With a victory in the clash, which will kick off at 20:30 (Sky and Sat.1), Dortmund would solidify their position as Bayern's main challengers. For Eintracht, Younes Ebnoutalib, who joined from SV Elversberg, and Arnaud Kalimuendo, on loan from Nottingham Forest, could make their debuts.
In addition, Kaua Santos will return to goal for the Hessen side. The 22-year-old Brazilian had to relinquish his number one status to Michael Zetterer at the start of the season after several errors. Now, Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmöller has announced that Santos will be back between the posts against Dortmund./cjo/DP/men
