BERLIN (dpa-AFX) - German professional football clubs can still sign new players this Monday until 8:00 p.m. This marks the end of the winter transfer period, which began on New Year's Day. Traditionally, the so-called Deadline Day sees plenty of activity in the transfer market, with significant movement both in terms of arrivals and departures.
In other top European leagues, the transfer window also closes on Monday, though sometimes at different times. Departures to countries where the transfer deadline is later are still possible after this point.
Usually, January 31 or February 1 is the traditional Deadline Day for winter transfers. However, since these dates in 2026 fall on a Saturday and Sunday, the end of the transfer period has been moved to February 2./two/DP/he
