Atos has announced that its Eviden division has developed the ARPEGE ground-to-air RADAR threat simulation system, which was deployed during a training exercise for the NATO Air Forces' Tactical Leadership Program (TLP).

The operation took place in November at the Los Llanos Air Base near Albacete, Spain, where TLP training programs enable fighter pilots to train in simulated environments that closely mirror real operational conditions.

Designed by Eviden's Avantix, the ARPEGE system has been in use since 2022 by the French Polygone electronic warfare component, notably at this NATO training air base.

This system consists of a central command post and remote light vehicles equipped with RADAR signal generators and tracking antennas, allowing for the illumination of aircraft in flight with simulated RADAR threats.

During training flights, the generated RADAR illuminations represent threats and trigger the aircrafts' self-protection systems. Fighter pilots are assessed based on their reactions, such as evasive maneuvers, deployment of decoys, jamming, or simulated air-to-ground attacks.
