The discovery, named Calao South, highlights the potential of the Calao channel complex, with estimated volumes of up to 140 billion cubic meters of gas and 450 million barrels of condensate, according to a statement.
Block CI-501 is operated by Eni with a 90% stake, in partnership with Petroci Holding, which holds the remaining 10%.
Currently, the Baleine field produces more than 62,000 barrels of oil and over 2 million cubic meters of gas per day. With the launch of Phase 3, production is expected to increase, consolidating Baleine as a key resource for the country's domestic energy needs, according to Eni.
