The European Central Bank could raise its growth forecasts for the eurozone at its final meeting of the year next week, its President Christine Lagarde said Wednesday.
"In the last projection exercise we upgraded our projections, my suspicious is that we might do that again in December," she said in an interview at the Financial Times Global Boardroom event.
At its September meeting, the previous time the ECB issued macroeconomic forecasts, the bank raised its full-year growth forecast for 2025 to 1.2% from the 0.9% it predicted in June. It anticipates 1.0% and 1.3% growth for 2026 and 2027 respectively.
Lagarde wouldn't go into further details ahead of the meeting on Dec. 18, when the ECB is widely expected to hold its key rate at 2%.
The ECB president reiterated that the central bank's policy stance was in "a good place" and that the eurozone economy had performed better than previously feared.
