The American entertainment giant Walt Disney, through its streaming platform Disney Plus, has secured exclusive rights to theatrical releases from Nordisk Film. This move means that Swedish titles such as “Grannfejden” will no longer be available on TV4 Play or Viaplay, according to a report by Dagens Industri.

The agreement is set to take effect next year, granting Disney Plus subscribers access to major Nordic films for several years. However, the exact duration of the deal and its financial terms have not been disclosed.

Kenneth Wiberg, CEO of Nordisk Film, emphasized that the partnership enables local content to reach a wider audience. Meanwhile, Hans van Rijn of Disney Plus highlighted the platform’s commitment to high-quality Nordic films.

Nordisk Film is owned by the Danish media group Egmont, which operates as a foundation.
