The DGA has announced that on June 2, it awarded MBDA, a joint venture between Airbus (37.5%), BAE Systems (37.5%), and Leonardo (25%), the framework agreement and development contract for the fourth-generation nuclear Air-to-Surface missile (ASN4G).
Intended to replace the upgraded ASMPA currently in service, the ASN4G will be deployed by the Strategic Air Forces and the Naval Nuclear Aviation Force. It will be integrated into the Rafale F5.
According to the DGA, the missile's performance, particularly its hyper-velocity, is intended to maintain the credibility of the airborne deterrent in the face of evolving threats.
This program is part of the modernization of the airborne nuclear component as outlined in the military programming law. The ASN4G relies on breakthrough technologies and industrial expertise mastered by only a limited number of countries.
