(Alliance News) - A scene of great wealth. Claudio Del Vecchio (68), one of Leonardo’s six children, holds 12.5% of Delfin—valued at around EUR7 billion—through his financial company CDV Holdings, which, however, is under the administration of Delfin itself thanks to a symbolic golden share.
Surrounding the heirs is a mosaic of residences and financial vehicles: Paola Del Vecchio currently lives in Greece; Luca (24) operates between London and Luxembourg, while other family members manage holdings and investments across the Caribbean, USA, and the Grand Duchy. Even Leonardo’s first wife, Luciana Nervo, though not an heir, possesses a substantial foreign portfolio.
Delfin, the EUR55 billion stronghold led by Francesco Milleri and Romolo Bardin, remains the center of gravity—and tension—among the eight beneficiaries of the largest inheritance ever left in Italy. The holding controls EssilorLuxottica and holds significant stakes in MPS, Generali, and UniCredit, with assets exceeding those of Exor.
In Claudio’s case, the strict statutory rules imposed by the founder are clear: although he almost entirely controls his CDV, a golden share held by Delfin allows the holding to exercise a veto over any strategic decision. Meanwhile, Claudio is preparing to pocket USD160 million from the sale of a building in New York.
Among the other family branches, the real estate and financial activities of the sisters stand out, as do Luca Del Vecchio’s first ventures with Roy Smaila, and the “Zampillo branch,” which includes Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio—already a figure in publishing—and Rocco Basilico, who moves between Luxembourgish holdings and Californian residences.
Completing the picture is nautical luxury: the family’s latest Baglietto superyacht bears the same name as Leonardo’s historic vessel, sold by the heirs a year ago.
