Infineon was among the strongest performers on the Dax. Shares in the chipmaker climbed around three percent after shedding approximately 14 percent over the past five trading sessions. In contrast, software giant SAP fell by around 2.5 percent, sliding to the bottom of the index. Investors are anxiously awaiting the US consumer price data due this afternoon. US inflation is expected to have risen to 4.2 percent in May, more than double the Federal Reserve's target.
