DORTMUND (dpa-AFX) - Marketing director Carsten Cramer will succeed Hans-Joachim Watzke as spokesman for the management board of Borussia Dortmund's corporation. BVB announced the decision by the presidential committee. Following Watzke's departure from the management board and his election as club president of Dortmund, the former works council chairwoman Svenja Schlenker will also join the KGaA's management board.
As the new club boss, Cramer will take over responsibility for communications and strategy from Watzke. "I am delighted and proud to be able to represent BVB in such a prominent role in the future. I am driven by the fact that we will be working together with a highly motivated team and maximum ambition to achieve a successful black-and-yellow future," said the 56-year-old.
Former stadium announcer for the other Borussia
The Münster native worked for Preußen Münster in the 1990s and was stadium announcer for Borussia Mönchengladbach. Cramer has been working for BVB since 2010.
Schlenker (42) will take over the human resources division from Watzke and will continue to be responsible for women's and girls' soccer at BVB. The management of BVB KGaA will continue to consist of Thomas Treß (59) for finance, organization, legal affairs, and investor relations, and Lars Ricken (49) for sports.
Watzke was elected president at the BVB members' meeting on Sunday. It was widely expected that Cramer would succeed him as management spokesman.
"I am convinced that Borussia Dortmund is very well positioned for the future with this new management structure," said the new club president Watzke./lap/DP/jha
