Universal Music Group will acquire a minority stake in Indian movie and digital content studio Excel Entertainment, boosting its presence in a market with high growth potential.

Versant shares fell in the television station operator's stock-market debut following its spinoff from Comcast. Versant owns TV and media assets including MS Now, formerly known as MSNBC, and CNBC.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting said it was dissolving the 58-year-old nonprofit umbrella organization that oversaw government funding for the Public Broadcasting Service and National Public Radio.
