Communications-services fell amid fears about artificial intelligence's challenge to data collectors and publishers.

Shares of Thomson Reuters plunged after Anthropic released an AI-powered legal-review automation tool. Traders bet the maker of Claude chatbot would encroach on Thomson's legal contract-review and workflow-software business.

Other specialty publishers such as Pearson, John Wiley and News Corp., which publishes this newswire item, fell sharply.

Disney shares slipped after the entertainment conglomerate said theme-parks executive Josh D'Amaro would take the reins from Chief Executive Bob Iger in March.
