The project, commissioned by the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency, is scheduled to begin in the autumn of 2026, with completion slated for late 2029.

This strategic corridor for industrial and port logistics currently suffers from congestion and capacity constraints. The project notably includes the construction of overtaking lanes with a central median, a realignment of approximately 8 km of the route, and the reconfiguration of major junctions.

The scope of work also encompasses the construction of an interchange, upgraded intersections, a partial parallel road, as well as infrastructure for active mobility and safety (lighting, noise barriers, and wildlife crossings).
