Shares of Ningbo Ronbay New Energy Technology fell after China's securities regulator launched an investigation into the potentially misleading disclosures about the company's contract with battery giant Contemporary Amperex Technology.

The stock closed 11% lower in Shanghai, even as the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.3%.

The China Securities Regulatory Commission said Sunday that it's probing a Jan.14 filing by Ningbo Ronbay that may contain misleading statements.

The cathode materials producer said last week it plans to sell 3.05 million tons of LFP cathode materials to CATL from the first quarter through 2031. After the CSRC questioned the disclosure, Ronbay said the figure was an estimate and that the final deal size will depend on the raw material prices and volumes at the time of signing.

The company said late Sunday that its operations remain normal and that it will cooperate with the regulator's investigation.

Ningbo Ronbay didn't immediately respond to a Dow Jones Newswires request for comment.
