Chevron Corp. has named a new head of exploration after completing its $53 billion acquisition of Hess Corp. Kevin McLachlan will become vice president of exploration on November 1, 2025, overseeing the company's worldwide exploration program.
He is replacing Liz Schwarze, who will retire in February after working at Chevron for 36 years. McLachlan comes from France-based TotalEnergies SE, where he has served as senior vice president of exploration since 2015. He has also served as executive vice president of global exploration at Houston-based Murphy Oil Corp.; vice president of global exploration at Canada-based Nexen Inc., which was later acquired by the China National Offshore Oil Corp.; and East Coast Canada exploration manager for Spring-based Exxon Mobil Corp.
McLachlan's appointment comes a few months after Chevron gained a prominent offshore exploration asset when it acquired Hess in July.
