MARBELLA (dpa-AFX) - There is a change in Borussia Dortmund's coaching staff for the new year: The Bundesliga football club has parted ways ahead of schedule with its set-piece specialist, Alex Clapham. "His contract was set to expire this summer anyway. We both came to the conclusion that it's time to go our separate ways," head coach Niko Kovac commented briefly at the start of training for the new year in Marbella, Spain.

The 36-year-old Englishman had previously announced his departure from BVB himself via an online platform. Clapham was originally brought in by Kovac's predecessor, Nuri Sahin. According to dpa sources, his contract would not have been renewed. There are no plans to appoint a replacement./lap/DP/he
