MARBELLA (dpa-AFX) - The announced fine for Borussia Dortmund's national striker Karim Adeyemi is still pending. According to coach Niko Kovac, a clarifying conversation with the 23-year-old is still to take place following Adeyemi's outburst after being substituted in the 2-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach two weeks ago.
"We have not done that yet," Kovac said on Friday at the start of the Bundesliga club's training camp in Marbella, Spain. "We will certainly have another conversation here, whether it's between four eyes, six eyes, or eight eyes—depending on who participates."
Kovac: "He has now had enough time to reflect on it"
Adeyemi was substituted against Gladbach after a weak performance and with a risk of being sent off, and was then prevented from storming into the locker room by sporting director Sebastian Kehl, as he left the pitch cursing and gesticulating wildly. Kehl had announced a fine immediately after the match. However, it has not yet been imposed. According to Kovac, this is because all players and officials went on holiday immediately after the game.
"He has now had enough time to reflect on it. He knows he made a mistake, and he will surely change that," Kovac said./lap/DP/he
